If the engine is in good condition and the material around the stripped holes is sound, You might try helicoils.

Jun 18, 2012 Aluminum blocks can easily be welded and refinished. Yeah you'll have to remove it and strip it all the way down but it's going to be the only way you're going to stop it for good. When you torque down on the head bolts it desorts the deck, especially where the crack is which usually causes the band aide to give up. T.

Unless you find a way to heat the entire work evenly, with Mapp Gas, the best you will get is a surface bond - no flow beyond the surface, and a weak joint at beat.

Another Olde Worlde fix for such a crack, drill a few holes alone the crack and screw some self tappers in. Then grind the heads off and drill a few more holes and screw in some more self tappers. Fix 99% of it then add some "block weld".

I have used it extensivly on cracked engine blocks and vertical turbine intermediates ( outer casing part that impeller of vertical pumps works in). Devcon is available for bronze, aluminum, steel, or cast iron. Just V-groove the crack, fill, and let sit 24 hours.
