Magnesium anode rods tend to be consumed quicker than Aluminum or Aluminum/Zinc/Tin anode rods due to the higher voltage they create during the sacrificial process.
Make sure the aluminum anode is not in contact with the inner parts of the heater. Aluminum anodes are ideal where the water contains sulfates.
