Take your splice block and get the ends of the tape lined up as close as possible, you don't want any overlap or the tape to be spaced apart. Since the foil tape will be going over this splice, it isn't as critical as an intra-tape splice where the music would be affected. Double check to be sure there are no twists or loops in the tape.
