Mar 01, 2010 Most old Kawa's get pretty grimy from road crap around the engine. If it were a car engine, I'd just coat it up with Gunk degreaser, scrub it a bit and hose it off. But Gunk and similar degreasers warn not to use on aluminum (as well as oven cleaner). I've tried aluminum wheel cleaners with no success, and I can't afford any kind of blasting.

Aug 07, 2019 Final coats were using Martin-Seynour Aluminum Blast paint applied in two-three lightly applied (dusted) coatings. It gives a nice even fresh-blasted aluminum finish that is heat resistant and cleans up easily. Have put a lot of miles on it since and it still looks like new with just a quick wipedown. Terry

May 08, 2016 I just cleaned much of my engine compartment with Abro Heavy Duty Degreaser, and I noticed that on certain metal parts like the valve cover, thermostat housing and transmission housing a white powder has formed:.
