The torch I'm using has a broad flame so it's probably not as efficient in heating the specific area for welding. A torch with more of a pin point would do better. In either case if you have a propane torch and brazing rods you can weld aluminum. All this can be found at your local hardware store. The rod cost about $3.00.

Any input on this rod for welding aluminum I was told you can use a propane torch or O/A to weld with this rod. got a aluminum water tank and it's not important that it hold high pressure. or that the weld even looks good just needs to fix the seapage it has under about 10 psi was told this rod will work as good as tigging it.

Oxy propane gets hot enough to melt or cut steel, but something about the chemistry of propane doesn't produce solid ferrous welds. I wanna be able to weld thin sheet metal, thick metal, braze, cut, make holes, heat and bend, etc.
