Jul 27, 2017 Aluminum has a number of advantages over cast iron, the most obvious one being weight. An aftermarket aluminum V8 block will typically weigh about 80 to 100 lbs. less than a comparable factory cast iron block of similar displacement. Add a pair of aluminum cylinder heads, and you can probably get rid of another 30 to 40 lbs. of dead weight.

But one designed for the a77II likely will because the bottom of those camera's are nearly the same and the ports are in a similar spot. There is nothing special about an L-bracket.

Jul 30, 2015 The head is soft aluminum and the block is much harder cast iron (really alloy). So great care has to be taken removing old gasket material from the head, so you don't take metal with it, you've obviously got around that by having the head milled for a fresh new surface.
