And so it is we come to Kevin DeWitte's 1965 L79-powered Chevelle, one of the 6,021 built in the L79's shortened second-half debut season. He's had it since the middle part of the last decade, but this machine's story starts in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, current population 15,000-ish, in the summer of 1965; Kevin is the one who teased out this car's history and put it all together.
It is equipped with the legendary L79 327/350 horsepower small block with a VIN stamped block matching the car's VIN, a stamped engine suffix code of ‘ZG' along with the recessed oil filter boss and Protect-O-Plate. The L79 is backed by a Muncie 4 speed transmission and a 12 bolt rear axle with 3.73 gears for performance.
