Sep 12, 2015 Used and entire bottle of map gas and three brazing rods trying to fix a small hole in an aluminum boat. Saw a lot of videos online they show a very easy process. Not the case however. At least not with these rods. Aluminum never reached a temp to melt rod. Rods broke off in about 1/8” pieces and fell off boat. #jbweld for the win!
4/5(37)After watching a YouTube video by a company that sells aluminum brazing flux and rods, I tried some powdered brazing flux with these rods to see if the flux helped. Massive improvement. The flux turned to liquid when the aluminum was hot enough, and when the brazing rod melted on the joint, the flux pulled it into the joint with capillary action.
