Mar 31, 2009 Joe 4032 has better scuff resistance than 2618, but less resistant to cracking under high cylinder pressures and/or detonation. I wouldn't go any tighter than .035, guys say they do but there is no good reason to risk it. I second the note on domes. No reason to run a domed pistons today, it'll rob more power than it'll help make.

The pistons are available in 0.001" increments so you don't have to go the usual 0.010", 0.020" or whatever oversize. If your block cleans up at 0.002" over they will make a piston for that size bore.

There are two main aluminum alloys for forged pistons. 4032 and 2618 The 4032 alloy forged piston is less expensive than the 2618.
