Apr 10, 2021 For purely theft deterrent purposes 1/8 steel and 3/16 aluminum for the bill. For those that want these as a skid plate aswell, I recommend 3/16 steel or 1/4 aluminum. The standard plate will fit a TRD PRO factory skid plate, it is a tight fit getting a tool or hand in there to hold the nut while tightening the bolts thought.

May 31, 2019 It dented the plate and pushed it up to contact the oil pan. It took a sledge and many hits to move the dent away from the oil pan. My Beetle is a bit lower than stock so the skid plate was a must. I don't regret the decision at all. I just kept the plastic side skirts as they help to keep the road muck off the engine.
