2024 is the most widely used 2000 series aluminum alloy. With good fatigue resistance–especially in thicker plate gauges–aluminum alloy 2024 T351 temper continues to be utilized for many aerospace structural applications. It combines light weight, strength, moderate toughness, resistance to corrosion, and good machinability.
