Jul 26, 2017 With the increase in the use of aluminum in engine blocks, there has been a significant increase in head bolt threads being pulled or stripped out. There are many different styles of thread repair inserts available, but for something as critical as a headbolt, there are only three kits I recommend. 1. Lock N Stitch Full Torque Blind inserts
Step 2. Align the tap attached to the tap handle over the cross threaded or stripped hole. For right hand screws, insert tap into tap hole as you slowly rotate the tap handle clockwise. 99 percent of of holes, screws, and bolts are right hand screws. If you know your hole is a left hand thread, rotate counterclockwise instead of clockwise. Edit.

The head bolt pulled threads and I had thought about ever possible solution for the fix. I looked at videos. I looked at reviews. I was going to do a time Sert and glad a found this much better product worked like it said. The coarser thread definitely will hold much better in a aluminum block or whatever.
Oct 30, 2006 The stripped thread is in the aluminum block. It is the hole that holds the lower front cylinder head stud. The stud would not take the 20 NM + 90 degrees + 90 degrees torque. So, the stud stripped its hole threads an came out with ~1/2" of aluminum clogging the end of its thread grip, leaving the upper ~1/2" of thread clean.
One of the best applications for this epoxy is fixing holes. If you have a stripped bolt or hole, turning to JB Weld products is a smart move to make. Threads do not always hold up under a lot of stress, use, or other tension-producing uses. They strip out fairly easily and when they do JB Weld can come to the rescue.

Dec 16, 2013 While torquing the head bolts (m11x1.5) one stripped the threads in the block. Removed the head and discovered that the head bolts were only going 0.515" into the block, this doesn't sound like that is enough threads to for 60 lbs of torque plus 1/2 turn. Now the shallowest threaded hole in the block is 1.255" deep.
