However, for numerous applications, OD thread rolling has inherent advantages as an alternative to cutting threads.
Rolling speeds depend on the type of material, thread profile, size and capacity of the machine, and method of feeding the metal stock. For reciprocating dies, thread rolling can produce 30 to 40 parts per minute with stock diameters ranging from 5/8 to 1 1/8.
