Press-Lock™ Tubed Cold Plates - Press-Lock™ tubed cold plates have copper or stainless steel tubes pressed into a channeled aluminum extrusion (See Figure 2). Custom tubed cold plates can be designed in virtually any shape or size and the fluid path can be custom designed for optimal thermal performance.
These tubed cold plates consist of copper or stainless steel tubes pressed into a channeled aluminum extrusion. This “Press-Lock” technology eliminates the need for performance-limiting epoxy between the tube and the plate, resulting in superior thermal performance.
Fluid Compatibility: Deionized WaterThe CP10/CP12/CP15 series of tubed cold plates is manufactured using Lytron's proprietary Press-Lock technology, which mechanically locks the tubes into the aluminum plate. Lytrons standard tubed cold plates are manufactured using Lytrons proprietary Press-Lock technology. Under this process, the tubes are mechanically locked into the aluminum plate. Press-lock technology removes the requirement of using performance-limiting epoxy between the tube and the plate. It helps in providing better thermal performance.

Another common cold plate type is made with metal shells that are brazed or friction-welded together and filled with a liquid coolant. On the inside, the metal shells have integral cooling fins that are submerged in the coolant.
The cold plate surface is about 1" thick and the liquid fittings rise another 1" up. I measured the cold plate and created a CAD drawing that you can see in the review photos as well as on GrabCad if you search "12x8x2 Cold Plate" Overall this plate is a pretty rough finish except for the top piece which is sanded down smooth.
