Fordnatics recognize 1969-1970 Boss 302 blocks and most 351 blocks as being stronger than the 5.0 H.O. (1985-95), but they still don't compare to a modern aftermarket block.

Windsor – Windsor refers to the Windsor engine plant in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Ford added this second engine plant in 1997 to produce 4.6L and 5.4L engines. As noted above, 1997 was the first year the 4.6L showed up in the F-150. Windsor blocks are all marked with a “W” in the block in two places.
If you look closely at the aluminum block above it has a diamond pattern in the casting on the top of the block. This identifies this as a Windsor Aluminum Plant (WAP) block. Jul 04, 2005 The Explorers and 05 Mustangs have aluminum 4.6L blocks that work for our cars. Alum blocks run 83 lbs Vs the 160 lbs+ for a stock iron. Most advise against a power adder for aluminum blocks. I want an Alum block for my NA car in a few years, by then it should be easy to get a deal.

All 289 302 and 351W engines where where grouped in the Windsor familly and ended up being called a Windsor engines. But what's most ironic part of this story is that most small block 289 302 Windsor engine parts where in fact produced in the Cleveland foundry and not the so believed Windsor plant.
