Aug 07, 2008 But yes, the aluminum can then be nickel-chrome plated. Not every shop can plate on aluminum because it requires a process called zincating, and then an alkaline electroless nickel strike before the nickel and chrome plating though. Good luck. For the anodized aluminum the underlying aluminum alloy will expand 5 times the expansion of the anodic film. At 0.002" this could be a problem. Hopefully an EN expert will comment on the expansion of EN over aluminum.
May 23, 2019 For smooth cast aluminum parts, anodizing provides an aesthetic finish since anodizing can be done in a clear coating as well as a multitude of colors, which can definitely be an attribute in favor of anodizing. Nickel plating is more versatile, and still almost always looks good, that is if you don't mind the extra weight added to the part ...
预计阅读时间:4 分钟Dec 23, 2005 There is two types of Nickel Plating. regular Nickel plating using electricity, or "Electroless Nickel" (called EN ) you can EN Aluminum parts, but it requires an extra process to kill the "Smut" (black soot) that occurs with Aluminum. Platers do not care about weight. They look at 5 things after you determine what you want in EN.
Apr 07, 2007 To answer your question, nickel plating would "posion" the anodizing bath, and anodizing would prevent nickel plating. So both would require the same amount of masking, but anodizing first would be safer, as the only result of a bad mask would be incomplete plating, where the nickel plating in the anno bath could cause burns in the aluminum.
Titanium anodizing itself can produce bright colors. Both anodized aluminum and titanium can be further plated in terms of proprietary processes, including final chrome finish. For the same reason that you cannot disclose your application, the proprietary processes for plating anodized aluminum cannot be disclosed here.
May 24, 2021 A. Hi Venkata. Aluminum bus bar is commonly copper plated because the copper has better surface conductivity (because aluminum quickly oxidizes in air to form an insulative aluminum oxide coating on its surface). But the copper plating is usually not thick enough to significantly alter the DC capacity of the bus bar.
Anodized Aluminum. Anodized Aluminum is hard wearing, maintenance-free and adaptable for applications including signs, rating plates, control panel fascias and labels. The quality surface layer will not crack, peel or chip and can be exposed to sunlight with full UV stability.
Oct 29, 2021 If you strip the anodizing, the diameter will be down to 0.9998". If you were to anodize the second time to a thickness of 0.0004", the diameter after anodizing would be 1.0002" again. So it might be theoretically possible to restore the original diameter by anodizing twice as thick the second time around.
