Dec 23, 2019 A413. A413 is an aluminum alloy with excellent pressure tightness. This makes it a good choice for hydraulic cylinders. The castability of this aluminum alloy makes it a great choice for die casting intricate components.

They are comprised of all manner of alloys and treatments to harden the end result. I would suspect those who had melting or quickly failing aluminum gas blocks probably had blocks made with alloys not up to the task.

Jul 18, 2015 I've got an aluminum BCG (not a JP) and a JP steel low mass. The aluminum was so light it made recoil snappy, even with properly tuned gas. If long term durability was a major consideration, I'd probably stay with the steel (I've had no issues or signs of accelerated wear on the aluminum one, but I haven't shot it that much either).
