Dec 21, 2007 If you want a peppy street engine and plan on using aluminum heads, why not go a little higher to benefit from the aluminum; say in the 9.5:1. At the very least consider 9.25:1 SCR. As far as which heads to purchase, any of the top brands that jt1 listed should work fine. They are the brands that flow the best.

Mar 19, 2013 The crank is a new GM crate crank with a couple hundred miles on it since new, that matches the block I am using. I came up with 0.0020" on the mains using my now-standard bearings, and 0.0018 on the rods. So the factory had set the mains up closer to 0.0015" w/ the slight undersize bearings the motor came assembled with.

The combination of parts just seems to be overall happier with the long rods, plus I already have the 4.0 rods.
