May 03, 2021 The ideal way to remove paint from Aluminium is by using plastic blast media. This is used at low pressures between 15-40 psi (1-3 Bar), and will not damage the substrate whilst quickly and effectively removing the paint. If used correctly and carefully, you can actually remove one layer at a time, and can recycle the media 20-35 times.
Stripping paint from wood can be a difficult endeavor. Because wood is porous, it absorbs the adhesives found within paint, creating a bond that can be difficult to break. Fortunately, if you need to strip paint from an aluminum door, you are in a much better position.
Feb 16, 2006 Don't give in to the temptation to play with the lifting paint. Let the stipper do the work. Avoid the steel wool and use Scotch Brite. Use water to wash off the lifted paint. Makes a mess. Don't apply more stripper until the aluminum is completely dry as water instantly neutralizes the stripper.

Aug 11, 2009 I used left over wall paint to paint the strip so it would match the doors but the paint doesn't stick to aluminum very well. You might be better off applying a coat of spray paint to the strip first and paint over that. It's easy to drill holes through the aluminum.
