The Boss 5.0 block is a 4.6L deck height, 94mm cylinder bore cast iron block. The block uses a proprietary iron mix to yield the strongest possible casting strength with the least porosity and greatest consistency. NOTE: The Boss 5.0L modular block does not have a finish milled head deck surface and the cylinder bores are rough honed.
OEM replacement blocks are offered, as are aftermarket performance blocks in cast iron, aluminum and A356 aluminum. Cast-iron blocks can be purchased from Ford Racing for Boss 302, Boss 351 and 460 big-block applications. The cast Boss 302 block uses a stock 8.20-inch deck height, 302 main bearings and one-piece rear main seal.

Jan 02, 2015 The BOSS 302 heads are known as "Cleveland style" heads as they are based on the head designed for the 351 Cleveland engine. As the 1968 Tunnel Port engine turned into a disaster, someone at Ford Engine Engineering got the idea to put a set of Cleveland heads on a Tunnel Port block and thus was the beginning of what would become the BOSS 302 engine.
The water passages of the Boss 302 heads were slightly altered from the Cleveland design for proper alignment with those on the 302 short-block; the combination yielded 10.5:1 compression. The canted valve arrangement permitted the use of 2.23/1.71-inch intake/exhaust valves, which were considerably larger than other Ford small-block head designs.

We are so confident in these blocks, we personally rate them to 1200hp capacity. They are capable of 4.185 bore size, feature billet steel 4 bolt mains caps on number 2-3-4 mains.
