Sep 27, 2018 By Roy Berntsen. I recommend aluminum build-plate at 6 mm thickness or more. Here is a link to the recommended buildplate in the BOM. Size for the bed is with stock frame setup I recommend 350*400 but you can fit a 400*400 witch is what I personally did run for the prototype. Build volume for stock frame setup is about 340*380*300.

Oct 11, 2015 The last printer I had that did actually print straight to aluminum was a 3DStuffmaker Evolution and that aluminum was anodized and had a special coating on it. I am not so sure just plain aluminum works that well. Honestly I would use it as a heat spreader then put glass on top of the aluminum.

It is possible to get both dimensionally and thermally stable alluminium that would easily meet the requirements. Downside is the minimum thickness is 5mm and the glass plate is under 4mm.
