Feb 20, 2015 The aluminum gas block isn't necessarily a major safety concern, but to pretend that it's a suitable material based solely on the 'melting point' betrays a serious ignorance regarding the properties and behaviors of different metals under varying conditions such as heat, pressure, thermal stress, etc. An aluminum gas block WILL fail prematurely.

May 02, 2019 Because you may need to remove the gas tube cover to get an access to the gas tube and gas block, the screw holes in the gas tube cover have steel inserts which will allow to unscrew and install back the gas tube cover screws multiple times without worrying about wearing out the threads which could be a concern if they were aluminum threads.

Nov 26, 2014 The gas block roll pin fit in the starter punch perfectly, and the pin punch fit the gas block hole perfectly allowing me to drive out a very rusty and corroded gas block roll pin. But by far, my favorite was the reaction rod which fit the upper receiver perfectly, and slotted into the barrel extension with very little wiggle.

Aug 05, 2013 The knurled aluminum version is a 2 piece install that includes a barrel nut. That means you have to remove your factory barrel nut, factory A2 sight/gas block if yours came with one, and install a low profile gas block if you choose a length that requires it.
Sep 06, 2014 I wasn't comfortable removing that rivet strictly for a photo opp, so I was unable to actually install the A2 style gas block. I measured a bunch of things, and I'm 100% confident that if your A2 gas block doesn't have a sling mount on it, this whole thing fits perfectly. Unfortunately, I didn't get to test that out.
