Jan 29, 2014 I am wondering what the pros and cons are for a aluminum flywheel for street only. 69 Mustang, 445 stroker, 530 hp, 538 torgue, 4 speed, 389 gear. Need to replace throw out bearing, so now is the time if I am going to do anything different. Now I am running a Hayes 40# flywheel with a 12 inch. clutch setup.

It's a small journal, but I have a 4 bolt 350 standard bore block, a forged large journal 327 crank, and the factory NOS standard bore, .125 dome/10.35:1 pistons, and another set of 461 heads (these are'nt "X" heads though), ready to go together when time presents itself.

Dec 26, 2008 That engine, with an M22 4 speed and a 12 bolt with 4.10's is now going in my 28 roadster project. I trashed my aluminum flywheel in my last car so I want to find another one. They're a great engine, and dont go with the big rectangular port big valve heads unless you have the compression and cam to go with it.

Jul 01, 2010 Help explain to me the understandings behind running an iron flywheel compared to an aluminum flywheel (or vice versa) in a street car and or drag car. An iron flywheel (21lbs for example) will help a car get off the line better from a launch compared to a lighter flywheel (11lbs for example)...
